[D0, EA] Tea with the Boss (Open/Expecting)

Even she knew that much was true. The manor lord had made this event possible with the Throne's sanction during a very difficult and dangerous Winter Court.

"What manner of consequence would be levied on a clan who brings shame to the proceedings, I wonder?" she asked, seemingly showing sincere curiosity. And perhaps, truly, just that.

[Otomo Gaitsu]

"Not so much as for those who sit higher, I think," Gaitsu replies. "Remember the climbing lessons."

Another sip of tea.

"Yet still substantial. Certainly, such a Clan would not be able to host such an event for some time. Perhaps it might not be allowed to send competitors, which would also be a rebuke. And some might construe it as an act of aggression, perhaps disrespect--and aimed high.

"Not something to skate past, I think."

His mouth quirks.

She sipped her tea. "I see..."

Placing it back down she practiced some vigilance of the teahhouse while she though of what that might mean, and if she could be of any use to the Scorpion. It was likely her clan would like to host this event in the future.

"Well, we shall pray for honor and prepare for discord, then", she said finally with a nod. "Shall we stay at the Inn for the duration of the event or has Doji-san invited you to his manor?"

[Otomo Gaitsu]

"I have opted not to burden Doji-san unduly," Gaitsu replies. "Besides, one can hardly experience the rustic without experiencing the rustic. The Jinbaori will suffice, and arrangements have been made to that effect."

[Bayushi Ameiko]

"Of course", she would of course agree with such a decision. She could advise differently when she had gained more of his trust. "I will see to it you are not disturbed. Will there be any other matters I need be aware of for our stay?"

[Otomo Gaitsu]

"See if you can't find a decent kite-maker, eh?"

Gaitsu finishes his tea.

"Pleasing, this."

[Bayushi Ameiko]

She offered to refill the tea with a motion. "I will find one such craftsman", she said. "Does my lord have a preference in design?"

[Otomo Gaitsu]

"Honestly, I think it would be good to sample the local flavor," Gaitsu says, nodding at the refill to his tea. "Travel broadens experience, and knowing more will help us serve better."

He sighs. "Though I admit it will be good to see home again."

[Bayushi Ameiko]

"Does my Lord Gaitsu keep his own estate or is Kyuden Otomo seen as home?" She asked, refilling her own tea. Despite the custom of her people, she was in service to another and shouldn't demand an Otomo to pour for her.

[Otomo Gaitsu]

"Home is in Toshi Ranbo," Gaitsu replies. "The...concentration of people...invigorates."

[Bayushi Ameiko]

Ameiko seemed interested. "What does that mean?"

[Otomo Gaitsu]

Gaitsu cocks his head slightly, blinks slowly.

"The Imperial City has a large population, as might be expected. Who would not want to be in proximity to Her Majesty, long may She reign? And the press of people permits much and reveals more."

He smiles, showing just a hint of tooth. "Knowledge is a powerful thing, after all."

[Bayushi Ameiko]

"Truly so, the thought of the Empress' presence is glorious", Ameiko agreed. "Though I have often seen such teaming masses as a distraction."

[Otomo Gaitsu]

"Many view them so," Gaitsu says. "But there is a power in crowds--not unlike what the Lion discuss in marching in lockstep with their brethren. Harnessed, it can be a mighty, mighty thing."

[Bayushi Ameiko]

"Oh, does Lord Gaitsu enjoy public speaking?" The yojimbo asked. She had certainly heard of such in school before attending the 100 stances dojo.

[Otomo Gaitsu]

"It is an agreeable duty," Gaitsu replies, sipping his tea. "And there is a thrill in being the focus of attention when that attention is favorable, certainly. Perhaps you will have the experience of it here."

[Bayushi Ameiko]

Unable to help it, she blushed slightly when she smiled. Perhaps her face paint his it, or perhaps it made her glow a bit.

"Oh I suppose yes, that will be the case", she said agreeably. "Praise is welcome, a cheer or even a kind word from the right source is fuel for the fire in our hearts, neh?"

[Otomo Gaitsu]

"So long as the right source is recognized and remembered," Gaitsu cautions. "Remember the climbing lessons."

[Bayushi Ameiko]

"Yes, Lord Gaitsu", and she bowed her head obediently.

[Otomo Gaitsu]

Gaitsu nods in reply.
