His smile was a bit wry.

"But at least it seems to bring us together."

"True, I suppose it does," she agreed. "I'd gladly face whatever complications if it keeps doing so."

"I'm glad we didn't have to spend a thousand years finding one another, then," she said, smiling softly. "You're the other half of me, after all. What a sad life it would have been, even with the hardships now, to have missed that for so long."
