D5ME, Keep 'em Coming (Tomodachi Enthusiasts)

[Yoritomo Tomodachi]

Tomodachi sighs, knocks back the rest of his drink, and launches into discordance:

Now more space opens for a hanging thing
Than daily use has long been wont to bring
For it, though loss of space will make them sing
Who feel their dangling suddenly curtailed.
(Baritone efforts have thus often failed
As stricken faces suddenly thus paled.)
That which is often girded tight hangs free,
Though still full well ensconced within the lee
Of blowing winds that hidden regions see
But seldom, as if an unscheduled prayer
If offered at the altar hidden there
By layered cloth, pulled up and out with care.
Ah! To have a penitent on knees
Who that within the open space would seize!

[Kitsune Shizenko]

Raakun covered his ears. Shizenko just chuckled and clapped out of rhythm. "Not as bad as I expected."

[Yoritomo Tomodachi]

Tomodachi executes a faux-elegant bow, with a flourish that makes him unsteady.

"But still bad," he says. "Guess we both need more to drink, then!"

And, lo, there is more drink!

[Kitsune Shizenko]

"You sing better than that bear from the story. He was trying to court another bear." She took the drink and drank. "He won the courtship call."

[Yoritomo Tomodachi]

"Ah, then the bear has exceeded me!" Tomodachi declaims. "Because I, alas, attend court only to find it empty!"

He laughs and pours more. Some is spilled.

[Kitsune Shizenko]

"She was easy to convince. Bear courtship is far easier than human courtship." She explained as she smiled at the Yoritomo. "You probably have courted many and the hand empty."

[Yoritomo Tomodachi]

"But every loss that fills the hand is one to be mourned," Tomodachi opines.

Knocking back his drink, he sings--badly--again:

There’s some swelling that
Distracts me with how it
Changes the way I have to
Walk while I am trying to
Get other things done and
I was wondering if you could
Give me a hand with it and help me
Get a grip on the situation so as to
Pull some resolution out and
Ease the stiffness that plagues me

[Kitsune Shizenko]

The shugenja chuckled. Raakun once again covered his ears. "Stiffness that plagues you... a good cold bath might be the remedy that might be seeked." She giggled like a little girl.

[Yoritomo Tomodachi]

"Nah," Tomodachi says. "Cold bath just moves the stiffness!"

He laughs too loudly at his own joke and drinks more.

[Kitsune Shizenko]

Raakun seemed lost at the jokes. Shizenko continued to giggle. "Ah Yoritomo sama... perhaps it does." The woman sighed. "It is getting late...and well..."

[Yoritomo Tomodachi]

"You'd like me not to sleep alone?" Tomodachi asks hopefully, making one final effort.

[Kitsune Shizenko]

"We are never alone Yoritomo sama.... you know...but if you want company..." She looked at Raakun. "You can have Raakun. He is a great companion... and sometimes he is chatty but most of the time good listener...you know... keeps the bed warm too." Shizenko chuckled as she picked up the tanuki with some difficulty now that she is not so sober.

[Yoritomo Tomodachi]

Tomodachi laughs.

"Know when I'm beat," he says, smiling.

[Kitsune Shizenko]

"That you don't have... a nice sense of beat... you know... next time we meet I'll show you what good beat is about." She chuckled.

[Yoritomo Tomodachi]

Tomodachi laughs at the joke.
