Crane Crossing (D4, LA, Closed)

[Doji Nadeshiko]

Nadeshiko waits at the foot of the path up the hill, sitting pretty on a blanket with her hands resting in her lap. At her side rests an overlarge lunchbox wrapped in a large kerchief. She's so still she looks almost asleep. Today feels... calm. Comforting. Or perhaps the weight on her shoulders has lessened. A fresh wind blows, and the clouds hide enough of the sun to let her risk a little more sight than she normally allows herself. It's a new day.

Early that morning she'd sent letters to those who'd expressed interest in speaking with a certain Kakita maiden. She hopes, perhaps, they'll be joined by one more... if, of course, the Unicorn has the time.

[Shosuro Hatsuki]

Hatsuki arrived, bowing to Nadeshiko with a warm smile. "Nadeshiko-san, it's so nice to see you. May I join you?" She asked, approaching her blanket.

[Bayushi Choudai]

Like Choudai was going to miss this.

Even if he'd literally just gotten out of bed not too long before and gotten to work in the kitchen.

He'd originally meant to hunt his bride to be down on his own, but, well, times being what they were, screaming Crane in the middle of the night being what they were, he found himself once more in an army.

"Doji-san, Shosuro-san. Good afternoon."

[Doji Nadeshiko]

"Nadeshiko-san, it's so nice to see you. May I join you?"

"Of course," She answers with her own smile and bow. "I'd hoped you might join me. Have you eaten dinner yet, Hatsuki-san?" The Crane pats her lunchbox with a big grin. Worst case scenario, she says no, and there's more for Nadeshiko, best case scenario, she gets to share dinner with her favorite cousin!

"Doji-san, Shosuro-san. Good afternoon."

"Oh! Good afternoon, Bayushi-san!" Choudai gets a wave the join them.

[Shosuro Hatsuki]

Hatsuki settles down with Nadeshiko and smiled toward choudai. "Good afternoon, Bayushi-san. And no, I have not eaten dinner yet. There was a bit of a ruckus during the night, and I didn't get to sleep until early. This is basically breakfast."

[Bayushi Choudai]

"Yes, quite the fuss. Still, nobody came to serious grief."

Choudai approached and had a seat near them.

"Even if it disrupted my sleep a fair bit."

[Doji Nadeshiko]

"Good afternoon, Bayushi-san. And no, I have not eaten dinner yet. There was a bit of a ruckus during the night, and I didn't get to sleep until early. This is basically breakfast."

"Yes, quite the fuss. Still, nobody came to serious grief. Even if it disrupted my sleep a fair bit."

"Oh! ...really?" She'd slept like a log all the way through the previous night's commotion. "What happened?" Nadeshiko begins to unpack the lunch box, revealing three tiers of food including sweets. It IS hers, after all.

"Ugh, what didn't happen?" She asked with a sigh. "Doji Yoshino-san had a bit of a scare."

[Bayushi Choudai]

"Which our resident Kitsune corroborated somewhat..."

Nadeshiko listens, humming a bit in thought. "Strange happenings," Is all she says as she helps dispense the food between the three. Hopefully it's up to Choudai's standards; she's just happy to eat. "One of many."

With that, she fishes out some thick, wrinkled and folded up pink parchment from her obi, offering it to whichever Scorpion takes it first. "I suppose it's better to share sooner rather than later. I received the strangest letter from Kakita Mikan after asking for a meeting to discuss her work."

[Bayushi Choudai]

"Oh?"

Choudai gave it a scan.

Hatsuki's eyebrows raise and a smile crosses her face. She pressed one finger to her lips.

"Well, well, well..."

[Doji Nadeshiko]

"It's..." She chews on her lip. "She makes it sound like we've met before."

[Bayushi Choudai]

"Perhaps before gempukku, under another name?"

"Seems to me I should meet my future wife, hm? Perhaps with a couple of chaperones along for the sake of decorum?"

She looked to Nadeshiko. "I would be happy to play that role if you are comfortable with it, Nadeshiko-san."

"I find myself entirely amenable to the role of concerned chaperone." She answers with a coy smile. "Though, considering we're currently picnicking at the foot of the main path up the hill, we may be able to catch her on her way up." Nadeshiko giggles.
