"I volunteer!" She says with a big grin. But then the Crane bounces on her heels as she remembers something important. "Oh -- do you -- the -- the spices -- before I forget! The spices! Ah..." Nadeshiko bites her lip. "...might I have three favors?"
"Just a glutton for punishment, aren't you, Doji-san?"

He smiled.

"What do you need?"

Yakuwari's attention drifts for a bit, eyes following one particular person. Then he shakes his head and recalls himself to himself.

Taking up the pen, he adds to his account.
Asahina Asano painted before us, and though her work was compelling, she herself seemed dissatisfied with it. And perhaps that dissatisfaction found itself at home in Bayushi Amieko, whose work on the flute was competent but seemed forced.
Yakuwari smiles tightly.

I'm not sorry to see it.

"Well, I had ... I've been thinking of what I'll do for Courtesy, and thought... to ask if I could display the spices you give me -- if you give them to me -- in one of my bags, with the name of who you procured them from. I thought it... appropriate. No -- symbolic. That's what I'm trying for, for the accompanying pieces. Symbolism and sharing." Her cheeks flush as she stumbles over her words. "I'll understand if you'd rather I not. I thought it would be rude and discourteous to simply display them without asking your permission." Well, now Nadeshiko feels like she's put her foot in her mouth. Why she does the things she does sometimes is beyond even her understanding.

It was while the Akodo wasn't paying attention that the sneak attack happened! Or at least the small Otomo had noticed that he existed, and was making notes, and found her curiosity piqued. Approaching from the side and quietly speaking.

"Are you the chronicler of the Sapphire championships Akodo-san?"

She gave him a soft smile and a bow when he looks up.

Yakuwari starts, flushes, and rises to bow deeply.

"This one, Akodo Yakuwari, is assigned to document events here, yes, Otomo-sama," he says, somewhat rushed. "My lord, Ikoma Botan, believes this will be a seminal event, and so I am sent here."

Kami!

"And Otomo-sama's performance will be entered into the Histories, it is certain."

Akuba leans towards her husband, not hiding her words.

"Isn't it a wonder to see a bird that's plucked itself putting plumage back on!" she says, her tone mocking. "But scuttling is so much less elegant than flight."

The judging has begun in earnest.

Once the judging had begun in earnest, her husband had watched Hatsuki for a couple of moments boredly...perhaps waiting for her to start dancing, or perhaps act out a scene.

But apparently the makeup was her entry.

".....good choice of color at least." he said after another pause of bored consideration, ready to move on to the next entry.

Ameiko gave a bow after her song completed, if anyone had any questions she would certainly answer them. Though she had to admit, after having finished she had a bit of an anxious rush of blood to her head, which was not particularly normal for her. She took a few steps away and went to find some tea.

Akuba nods. "My husband is wise."

She considers. "And it is good to see pious gestures, helping the less fortunate. One wonders about the provisions to be found in some central provinces, though. If performance follows from feeding...there have been some interesting troughs for some, surely."
