Oh, Matsu-san's painting is nice, very evocative.

The poems and incense are nice, I like the application of an additional sensory component to the poetry display.

And I see the shirtless Togashi parade has begun.

He glanced Hatsuki's way briefly, but not for long.

And of course, Hatsuki's work is amazing.

Having finished her story, Yua returned to the sides with a pleasant smile on her face. Her outfit flowing with her as she walked and she fanned herself gently. Politely and perhaps pointedly ignoring the Cranes painting.

Yakuwari writes on.

The incomparable Otomo Yua graced us with a story of compassion. Told with skill and aplomb, it recounted encounters between a fisherman and a sea-spirit, elevating all who heard it with its charms and those of the narrator.

He sighs and focuses more intently upon the work.

The scent of incense draws Nadeshiko a little across the way -- the two cousins find themselves before Doji Yoshino's set piece. The thoughtfulness of it is what strikes the Crane first; color, scent, and poetry combined with movement, a clear intent on circling around the ways compassion manifests itself in each Great Clan, the attention to detail so fine the poems are all the same size visually!

Hatsuki considered the set of poems, frowning softly, resisting the urge to let it deepen. There wouldn't be any acknowledgment if she allowed the traditional arts to outstrip her. Still, she gave Nadeshiko's question due consideration. "... The light blue." The idea of mercy and expressing compassion through a swift death spoke to her more than the others.

There's a nod; dignity and mercy walking hand-in-hand. "I find myself favoring the red." The corners of her mouth turn up as she leans in with a slightly playful air just for Hatsuki. "Shall you pick the next piece? I'd like to see what catches your eye."

Hatsuki wandered. Compassion wasn't exactly a virtue that spoke to her personally, so there wasn't a lot that was meaningful. She smiled when she ran across the food, though. "I like this one. It is both a display speaking to compassion and an offering of it to anyone who watched and absorbed the display."

She glanced to the side. "that Phoenix's calligraphy is interesting to me, as well."

"I am curious about this ko-hi ceremony the monk mentioned in his presentation."

"Yes, it is," she said with a nod. "He excels in this arena." She kept her amused smile at her cousin's expression behind her fan. "I believe he's just over there if you want to ask him about it." She nodded to Choudai nearby.

"I am curious about this ko-hi ceremony the monk mentioned in his presentation."

She nodded, smiling. "A lovely idea. I'll see you soon, cousin." with that, she bowed a little and went looking for a monk.

Horuden joined the discussions, ready to brew and share coffee. As well as discuss and demonstrate it, at length. Exchanging coffee haiku or koans was acceptable too.

She bowed when she approached. "Pardon me, Asako-san. I am Shosuro Hatsuki. An honor to meet you."

After being told she could transfer her work to its stand for display in the other gallery, Sriyani joins the others spectating and mingling quietly as her player catches up reading all the other displays enough to comment intelligently on them.

"Ah, Phoenix-san, might this one inquire about your chosen drink there?" Tatsuya said as he approached, giving just a small bow before straightening. "This one is Moshi Tatsuya and, ah, unfamiliar with the scent I noticed," he said with at least some genuine warmth in his voice.

"Of course, Moshi-sama." The man said with positive resolve, responding to the warmth. The Mantis were a clan responsive to novelties. "This one is Asako Horuden, and the scent comes from a most magnificent brew known as coffee."

She bowed when she approached. "Pardon me, Asako-san. I am Shosuro Hatsuki. An honor to meet you."

"Shosuro-sama." The monk bowed with decorum. He gave her artistic make-up a moment of consideration, just enough to form an opinion. "Let me congratulate you on looking so radiant." He said matter-of-factly, appreciating the intent.

Hm, I'm not much for jewelry, but Horiuchi-san's work is certainly striking.

It takes her a moment to spot him but soon Nadeshiko's hovering just a few feet from Choudai, her eyes closed again as she considers just how to say hi. Since... Yeesh. She makes a bit of a face remembering the painting. Now it's less funny and more weird. What on earth and in the heavens above is going on with that Mikan...

He turned toward the Crane, his impromptu mask for the day hiding his smile, although the corners of his eyes still crinkled up a bit.

"Doji-san, for one who has been through such stresses with me, I can spare several."

He paused.

"And jokes aside, I enjoyed your presentation. Kintsugi is an art I wish I had thought to have applied to my original mask... so. What can I do for you?"

She has to stifle a giggle; well, at least poor Choudai's taking it all in good stride.

His compliment immediately brightens her mood, and Nadeshiko grins; he recognized it! That makes her so happy, considering it's one of her most treasured possessions. The tea cup in her hand's pressed tighter to her chest. "Could I have some of what you prepared? I didn't simply want to... take some... without asking..." She gestures shyly to the food her and Hatsuki had been looking at before adding: "It smells very good. Do you mind if I ask ... well... I suppose, how do you feel when you cook? Is it more mental, more physical, or both?"
