There is a peculiar urgency in his voice. It is quiet, but it is there.

"To my knowledge he still serves in the painted city, and Choudai-san did not speak of his uncle as if he were present."

He sips at his drink, takes a bit.

"The food is quite good, as might be expected."

Catching the look, Choudai arched an eyebrow behind his mask, but made no move to approach. Barreling in on an Imperial and his yojimbo would be a bit... crass.

It certainly explained a thing or two. Seeing his fellow Scorpion mixing with the refined and the mighty, Choudai opted to go low.

"Your pardon, samurai-san, this one is Bayushi Choudai. Might I recommend the unagi? It's rather... robust."

After conferring with Gaitsu, she finally noticed that a certain Akodo she recognized was present, and still acting weird.

Wait, did he always act odd? she wondered a moment. Her interaction with him had mostly been them acting proper, sitting quietly and sword work, they had never really spoken.

Maybe she just assumed he was a creep because he is a Lion.

"True... I'm quite relieved about that. Facing the art critics without knowing a few people to talk to afterward might have been a challenge," she replied with a warm smile, sipping her tea and delicately choosing a piece of sushi to eat after saying a blessing. "I've fared quite well. I haven't seen many of the tea houses yet, so i suppose those will be my next stops in some of the coming days."

Sriyani arrives to the feast in a kimono so covered in embroidery weighing down the the sleeves and hem that the purple silk is entirely hidden across wide expanses. The embroidery is wildly multicolored, depicting flowers familiar and otherwise, stalks of bamboo and papyrus, and recognizable sprays of pine needles and various tree leaves. The wealth of bracelets are unusual, while the hair ornaments run toward the gracefully traditional, with combs dangling spring's hyacinths and cherry blossoms, while a bell-studded, silver ribbon braids through her long hair to end in a tassel of amethyst. It's easily the fanciest thing she's ever worn. Her sleeves are not the full length of a maidens, though the exuberance of color would not usually be the choice of a respectable married woman...but with the Unicorn, who knows what it means.

Seeing her Crane friend in conversation with another, she pauses a bit self-consciously nearby, ready to exchange greetings and take a seat...or look elsewhere.

Doji Minori is also there. She's dressed in a baby blue kimono with a blue Crane embroidered at her back. She has picked a blue obi, as well, tied in a beautiful bow. Her clan, family and school mon, all three of them in blue color, complete her outfit.

She is sitting next to Nadeshiko, takes a bite from time to time and generally is open to socializing.

There was a small motion with her fan to get the Lions attention, and a smile and a nod to the seat beside her once she had it.

Dammit. Well, so much for escaping attention.

Putting on what she thought was a brave face Inori made her way over. That did solve the problem of figuring out where to sit, but...

"Good evening, Samurai-san" she said, with a neutral bow.

"Samurai-san?" Yua said with an amused tone, turning to look at the Lion woman, Imperial mon now much clearer as she gave her a seated bow "well now, that is an unusual greeting. Good evening Matsu-san, I hope you are well? A vast feast the Crane have put on for us, ne? I am Otomo Yua. Please, join me. A welcoming meal deserves good company. Tea?"

The Kitsune noted the Akodo and seemed he needed something to drink. She took a bottle of sake and moved to the man. "Good evening Lion sama may I offer you a drink?" Shizenko bowed offering to fill a glass with sake.

Yakuwari blinks a few times, surprised at the approach. But he swiftly bows and says "It would be welcome...Kitsune-san," recognizing her mon.

"I presume you are here to compete," he adds as he moves to return the pour.

"Yes, this one is Kitsune Shizenko. Representing the Fox clan." She received the pour in her glass. "Seem there is quite the representation... specially of the Scorpion."
