(D6, LN) Gaki Busting Field Trip (Closed)

[Asahina Asano]

"You do look ridiculous. But surely it's worth it, no? I don't know as much about these things as Isawa-sama seems to, but I wouldn't want to sleep with spirits invading my sleep, or worse. And ink washes off, in the end. At least every ink I know of. Or else I know a lot of scribes who would continually have black fingertips."

[Doji Yoshino]

Yoshino moved to throw on the funeral kimono. She was cold. Rubbing her arms together wasn't doing much. "I'll try a bath in the morning. A hot one. I've been one of those black finger tipped scribes so I can get off some ink." She moved to join Asano, picking up her lantern on the way. "Thank you for helping that Isawa. He is terribly rude, but he lived up to his boasts. I will have to get something as a gift to thank him. I am glad not to have to fear a gaki at night, but mostly I'm just tired."

[Asahina Asano]

"I can understand that, Yoshino-san."

Now that the Isawa wasn't there it felt okay being a bit more causal.

"Let's get you back to the inn, and to bed. The sooner you sleep the sooner you can wake up and refresh yourself, neh? Besides, it's far too late to be out, even on an adventure like this."

She chuckled softly and held the lantern over Yoshino's head to provide light and warmth.

[Doji Yoshino]

"Sleep sounds dreamy." Yoshino comments with a dry laugh. "Yes, much too late Asano-san. Thank you." The taller woman carrying the lantern made it easier for Yoshino to keep her loose fitting lent kimono closed.

"I'll need to think of a thank you gift for that Isawa... is it wrong that all I can imagine for him is a mirror?" She states, heading along the path with her brows furrowed.

[Asahina Asano]

Asano couldn't help but giggle softly, shaking her head, "No, I don't imagine so. Especially as late as it is. A mirror has a lot of symbolism too, so it's not a bad idea. I could think of things, if you'd like. I have the rest of the morning."

[Doji Yoshino]

"As long as you don't wake me up." She clapped her hands toward her cousin. "Please. Not unless I am about to miss lunch."

They walked a bit further as Yoshino pondered something. She asks sincerely. "I owe you a favour. If there's anything you need Asano-san, do call on me."

[Asahina Asano]

"A favor? Me? Nono... you don't owe me anything. I'm just happy to be able to pay you back for all the care and looking after me you've done over the years. As someone older and more responsible than me, I've always thought of you kind of like an older sister, even if we're not actually blood related."

Which was true; Asano was related to Yoshino by her uncle, her mother's brother-in-law. who was a sibling to one of Yoshino's parents. So though they both shared lineage with the same cousins, they technically had none themselves.

[Doji Yoshino]

For Yoshino the Asahina was family, but distant. She was a little bit like a younger sister. Their bond would have no doubt been stronger to her if she hadn't spent most of the last few years in Crab lands. She only returned home for relatively short intervals. Even so, it was a lovely idea.

"Then call on me because we're like sisters, and sisters help each other, ne?" Yoshino offers thoughtfully.

[Asahina Asano]

"If you tell me to do so I would be a fool to refuse. And no, I'm not considering it a gift and refusing your offer. If you feel the same as me and want to help me than I'm more than happy to ask. I'll just say the same to you; Always keep me in mind if you need something. I'm sure I'll only grow more capable and such as time goes on, even if I am younger than you, Yoshino."

[Doji Yoshino]

"You'll blossom into an even more amazing woman Asano." She responds sincerely and familiarly. "I'd be a fool too if I refused your assistance. You've bested a gaki tonight and saved me after all."

She moved closer to join her arms around Asano's closest as they walked. "If I am being sent North then I'll send you letters. I hope he's wrong, but he seems the type to delight in always being right."

[Asahina Asano]

Asano seemed to think a moment, walking carefully, only nodding after a minute of silence, "You are likely right there. Still, I wouldn't put too much stock in such things,personally. If you haven't heard anything about such plans from your lord, it seems unlikely a traveling priest would be the one to break such important news to you."

[Doji Yoshino]

"He seemed sure. I might prepare a letter, just in case, suggesting some better alternatives. What I'd really like is to find out how I might appease the gaki to remove this... affliction." Yoshino pondered aloud. She gave Asano's arm a squeeze a moment later.

"Let's discuss it another night. The town isn't far now. I hope I don't snore. I'm going to dive into the futon."
