(D5, EA) What Happened (open)

[Kaiu Kunio]

Loud bird noises nearby awaken Kaiu Kunio, then the hard surface of tent on open road keeps him up. He is clearly not in his room at the inn, but he had time to set up a tent? Taking a hand to his face, he tries to get a feel for what his breath smells like, but it's not something he is familiar with. Oh well, he takes time to notice his surroundings while putting on his spare clothes.

[Otomo Gaitsu]

Groaning next to Kunio will attract attention.

A figure sits up, looks around.

"What happened?"

[Kaiu Kunio]

Noticing the voice, but refusing to turn around and physically see the state of clothing the other is in, Kunio makes certain he is properly dressed before taking a step outside. Once outside he takes a moment to take notice of his surroundings. (Investigation roll to find clues?)

[Otomo Gaitsu]

Once he's outside, Kunio will hear noises as of a man rapidly assembling himself--as well as a tent-muffled "Where's my hat?"

"It appears to be the afternoon, are you feeling well?"

[Matsu Inori]

Fancy running into something like this Inori thought, seeing a....tent, of all things, and a somewhat disheveled Samurai stumbling out of it.

"Errm, Samurai-san...are you alright?" she inquired hesitantly.

[Otomo Gaitsu]

Gaitsu emerges, rubbing his eyes.

"Ugh. Mouth tastes terrib--"

He cuts off suddenly.

"Where are we--Kuni-san, Matsu-san?"

Your tent is pitched just off the road, some distance west of town. There is evidence of what you recognize as coffee grounds scattered about--some in piles, others as dust scattered by the wind. Stains on the tent fabric bespeak spilled coffee, as well.

[Matsu Inori]

"Do you...should I..." Inori stumbled over her words a bit.

"I might be able to do something about your problems if you're....hungover" she said. "Well. Not sure. I should be able to, at any rate"

Right. Sounded very mature and confident. Totally in control...

Wait a minute. Was that an imperial mon? And...with that level of finery...

"Erm, that is if you wish me to, Otomo-sama"

[Kaiu Kunio]

"I don't think this is alcohol related, but if you are willing to offer to ask the kami for help, I would not be averse personally Matsu-san."

[Otomo Gaitsu]

"By all means."

Gaitsu straightens his clothes.

"Still don't know where my hat is."

[Matsu Inori]

"Not sure that that's what it is, but...yes. I can inquire on your behalf"

Inori frowned in concentration, then took a tube containing a rolled painting from her satchel. On it, a man sat on the floor in front of a table, hunched over. He looked gray and drawn, details left deliberately vague and minimal - and around him, on the Tatami and clambering over one of his leg, were....spirits of sort. Mostly ones that looked like smidgens of dirt or dust with eyes, but also two of the small, blue water-blob mannequins.

There were also orange and red lines spread through the hunched man - and one of the dustmote-spirits was touching one of said lines.

Inori stared at the painting. Concentrated. Inhaled.

"Fortify!"

There was a ripple on the ground that flowed into the two men

[Otomo Gaitsu]

Gaitsu shivers slightly as the spirits pass over him and through him.

He stands straight suddenly and says "You will have to excuse me, both of you."

And he hastens away from the road, behind the tent, and into the nearby brush.

The sound of falling water soon follows.

[Kaiu Kunio]

With the spell cast, his headache is gone. Kaiu Kunio takes a moment to finish dressing now that there is privacy in the tent, coming out as if he did not just go on a bender last night. "Thank you Matsu-San, could you let me know how far away from town we are? I seem to have no recollection of what happened last night."

[Matsu Inori]

"Oh we're in the countryside out west, a good bit past the opening blossom tea house. I'm afraid it's going to be a bit of a walk"

Inori looked back over her shoulder towards the town. "I was trying to find the next village over, saw it on a map. Definitely looked closer than it is, and I was about to turn back when I saw the commotion here"

[Otomo Gaitsu]

Gaitsu comes back around the tent after a bit.

"Now, where did my hat get to?"

[Bayushi Ameiko]

An aura of dissatisfied malice pervades the air as Bayushi Ameiko approaches from the roadside. It is a palpable, rumbling thing. She is, of course, smiling radiantly, absolutely beaming, in fact. Her soft features look positively pleased with the blessed day Lady Sun has granted.

She wears her kimono, her traveling cloak, carries a bag with her, her blades and in one hand holds a parasol over her head, in the other she holds..

A hat.

"Good afternoon, Lord Gaitsu", she said with the utmost cheer and offered a bow as per usual. She noted the others. The burly man, the little wretch of a Matsu. "It is good to see you all this afternoon, I hope I have not interrupted any proper accords between samurai, but I found my lord Gaitsu's hat and felt he should have it with him if he is to project his proper On."

She held the hat out toward the Otomo.

[Otomo Gaitsu]

"Thank you, Bayushi-san," Gaitsu says with a short bow as he retrieves the hat and fixes it on his head.

"Much better."

[Kaiu Kunio]

"I don't believe you have interrupted anything Bayushi-san, but I might have disrupted plans of yours. Good afternoon, this one is Kaiu Kunio."

[Bayushi Ameiko]

"Bayushi Ameiko", the Scorpion replied sweetly. "it is an honor to make your acquaintance."

Her head tilted a little bit, the smile touching her eyes. "I did not know Kaiu-san had decided to take my charge camping."

[Otomo Gaitsu]

Gaitsu looks at Amieko.

"Is that what happened, then?" he asks. "I remember having some brew that a Phoenix had commended, in the--wait, what day is it?"
