He kept his tone level.

That last remark gave Inori pause.

Right. I have to remember he is a Scorpion. I do not think I would look forward to marrying into that clan, either

Inori blushed slightly

"Choice is not a thing for samurai, Matsu-san. The Clan dictates both that I wed and who I wed. If Kakita-san has problems with that, well... I'm not exactly dancing with joy myself, but it's not going to change anything."

And ancestors provide that I do not have to deal with something like this in the near future.

He took another thoughtful chew of noodles.

He... seemed to be joking.

It would help, that mask Inori conceded, blissfully oblivious to the symbolism this particular Scorpion's mask held.

"Of course, it begs the question, Matsu-san- what does Kakita-san do all day, since she doesn't seem to get out and about?"

"Walk around, eat noodles, talk to strangers she only recently met, train Soujutsu in the Dojo" Inori rattled off, using her fingers to help her count...then couldn't hold it in any longer and broke out into a grin "Well painting takes a while, but that still leaves her with plenty time and I have not spoken to her yet"

A thoughtful expression crossed her face

"Carry the Fortunes, Bayushi-san" she replied, smiling and bowing.

And good luck finding an honourable and good way through all of this she quietly added in her mind, although Inori kept that thought to herself. It was probably not her place to lecture her elders after all.
