"But do they, Kaiu-san? I confess, I found the tea selection rather bewildering. It was so hard to find which one to pair with a given snack- the selection was simply too broad for my limited comprehension."

He shook his head.

"So broad an array of options might suit more epicurean tastes than mine, but I think I'll just stick to the food, which I am more qualified to assess."

"I admit usually those in our social position do not need to think about their tea selection, but if you've spent enough time with manual labor, you would understand that there is a lot more uses for tea than for the ceremony. These people also tend to be quite a large portion of the customers, and thus it is important for one who understands that to lead their efforts." He casually takes another bite of his breakfast. "However, I truly believe that their conflict now will not break their relationships, and they will grow, then they will collaborate once the management is clear."

"Indeed, brotherhood has done a lot of good for me." He does not clarify whether he means blood relatives or job related.

"How many siblings, if I may ask?"

"Eight siblings, 6 older, 2 younger. You?"

"Four. Two older, two younger. One brother and one sister on each side of my age."

He chuckled.

"They're all a bit more... conventionally successful than I am."

"But you are unconventionally successful? I can relate to not feeling like you fit the mould, not everyone is fit for life on the wall." A somber bite of morning salad, a drink of water, and a pause, "but like the water, we find a way."

"More or less. I'll admit supplying our armies is less... technical than the armies of the Crab, but it still needs doing."

[Kaiu Kunio]

"I think you'll be surprised to find that every clan has some talented craftsman. Sure the price for failure isn't quite as immediately deadly as it would be for one who works in the south, but it doesn't mean that they shouldn't treat their work with just as much pride. "

"All very true, but I had little to do with them."

He chuckled.

"I was more concerned with grain."

"I am sure there's a lot of technical know-how that goes into agriculture as well. I highly doubt you'll get a lot of good variety farming southern soil. I wouldn't mind hearing more about the techniques you do use if you don't mind."

[Bayushi Choudai]

"Oh, my techniques are all about collecting what someone else has grown, not in raising crops themselves."

He sighed.

"Browbeating granaries into coming up with more barley is never exactly thrilling, but we all have our specialties."

[Kaiu Kunio]

"Browbeating? Interesting technique to make plants grow? I will have to see this sometime."

[Bayushi Choudai]

"I was under the impression the Yasuki were quite good at it?"

[Kaiu Kunio]

"The Yasuki know who needs what and gets it to where it can be of best use. For example, if the lion need fish but have barley, the crane have fish but need special flowers from the mountains, a Yasuki just happens to find a Phoenix who has jade to trade but needs a good blade, and well he just happens to also knows some blacksmith who happens to have more mouths to feed than expected."

"Then you have some understanding of how I do my job, Kaiu-san."

He smiled.

With napkin over mouth, similar to how one uses a fan. "There's a world of difference between trading and 'browbeating'."
