I can also see the Otako-backing coalition possibly feeling less thrilled with it, since the rule was hidden to begin with. I think having that open from the start is a better bet.

Had we known, we might have tried some slimy sleazy schemings (which would fit for the Scorpion) but as an Otoko-backer, I can honestly say I'm not too fussed by it... and it made for a good bit of surprise for Otoko at the end.

I enjoyed the Amigos game, but the stakes for PCs were pretty low if you didn't have an Ally advantage.

Low stakes, yes, plus I haven't seen players try to rebuild and change the coalitions after the announcement - Saibankan mentioned in Discord that it was close, so those efforts may have actually changed things. I know some people (including me) weren't using their full potential even for Amigos, I only dedicated 5 of the artworks and lobbied only once - albeit for the other side

True story.

In the history of Naishou games, Scorpion blocs tended to be pretty damn united, and often outnumbered any single other Clan. The Crane in this game actually mark the first time the Scorps weren't CLEARLY the top that I can recall, except maybe for Hundred Stances, where everything was scattered.

And just to answer because someone asked in character. No the sapphire champion doesn't get to boss anyone around (and they are appointed for but a year...of course they're an ambassador too) The Champ's meant to coordinate and organize the spread of art and culture across the Empire.

I think I had a single post complaining about the idea of the Scorpion hosting to Yoshiaki after Choudai pissed Sriyani off (and ooc gave an FYI in case that *would* change who he would back, since my posting meant he'd likely hear that well after dayflip). And that was as much campaigning as I was going to put in. XD
