Shizenko and her companion sat in the sake bar. The woman had ordered a drink for herself and one for her companion. "Well, Raakun it is the first day of this contest and so many excelled."

That paint in was really interesting I didn't know ningen followed the dog identification process.

"It is an art form that well...some find it amusing, others..." She sipped her drink.

"Evenin' Kitsune-sama!" the barkeep greeting her enthusiaactically with a smile.

He grinned a bit.

"Who's joiniin' ye tonight?" he inquired. "Can't imagine such a pretty samurai-ko drinkin' alone. So watcha poison and how many cups?"

"It seems, it is just Raakun and this one." She looked at the tanuki. "Let's start with a bottle of plum wine. Something light to follow this drink."

The barkeep nodded.

"Ah a fine choice Kitsune-sama. As in all things, it's best to start light and work your way towards hard. I've got just the thing. From Kakita Yoshi's estate. Sweet, but not too much just like yourself"

He produced two cups and a bottle. Peach colored wine poured easily forth into both cups.

"I hope you and your friend enjoy"

"Thank you..." She turned to Raakun. "Don't get used to this I am indulging you because I think it won't be that bad."

Awe... but when I become a real tanuki spirit can I have more than this?

"That is to be seen... first we have to see if the legends are true. If that leaf exist in Nigendo but I doubt it. I think it may be in some other realm."

The tanuki whined.

Akutapo made busy with cleaning a spot on the bar, though his eyes did not wander far from the foxy lady in his bar.

She patted the tanuki on the head as she finished her glass. "I wonder if we go to Kiku I have heard there is a tree in the temple of Musubi... but then again... I doubt I would be finding someone to marry anytime soon." She sighed.

Don't worry, you will find a mate.

"When one is surrounded by friends like you... not many would tolerate my nature."

That got a snort from Akutapo who came over to refill the empty glasses.

"Anyone who can't see the appeal to marrying Kitsune-sama clearly needs to be cut off for the night." he remarked.

The Kitsune chuckled. "I pale... a samurai like this one is seldom search for marriage." She sighed as she drank the new poured glass. "Jin... Is what this one heart carries yet... Honor and glory and status is what many long for."

"Some folks want water, some folks want shochu. A bottle can hold either, but it's not the bottle that really matters." he said putting the bottle back in it's place.

"In the end, it's about getting folks what they need, if not necessarily what they want."

Shizenko chuckled. "If it was from a Scorpion, I would probably pass... then again we pick our poison as we choose... known or unknown." She nodded sagely. "Probably be better if I just followed my duties and get out my little forest and enjoy the not so fresh air of the city."

"Probably Kitsune-sama. Just have to find the right sort of fella you can take back to the woods when you've got him picked out." he agrees.

Rather shamelessly sliding into the conversation at that point, Moshi Tatsuya opined, more loudly than necessary for just the Kitsune and the barkeep to hear, "Well, as long as you're not planning on taking someone back to the Opening Blossom Tea Room, I think that you'll do fine! That poor place..." The tall Mantis shook his head, as though it genuinely saddened him to say, "I think it's true what they're saying, that it'll be closed by the end of the season. Just not competitive with the others, you know. Profit going into birds' bellies instead of good business practices..." The Mantis shook his head again, sighing. "I'll drink to the success of the others, at least to Waving Grass," Tatsuya said softly. "A good, cost effective cup of shochu please, my good barkeep," he said seeming like he'd moved on from the bad news part of his evening.
