Sapphire Ambassadors

The playful Raakun has found some friends and wanted to play. They saw a cabbage vendor and each one took a cabbage. "MY CABBAGES!" The man shouted as the tanukis left running around the streets.

Step 1: Where did they go?
To know the directions the tanuki took you can use Hunting (tracking) Perception TN 15, Investigation (Search) or Courtier (Gossip) TN 20. Raises will lower the TN by 2 of Step 3 for each raise. Characters with Absolute Direction gain a free raise. If you fail the roll you can try again with a +5 to the TN because of conflicting infornation or you can continue with a +10 to the step 3 TN.

Step 2: Get out of my way!
There are a lot of people in the streets and to ease your way around people must move out of your trail. You can use Intimidation Willpower TN 15, Courtier (Manipulation) or Battle (Command) Willpower TN 20. Raises will lower the TN of Step 3 by 3. Characters with Disturbing Countenance get a free raise on Intimidation. If the character fails the TN of Step 3 is raised by 5.

Step 3: Follow the tail!
You have noted the tanuki and it's time to run after it. Characters make a Athletics (Running) Agility TN 10, Navigation Intelligence or Hunting Agility TN 15. Characters with Absolute Direction gain a free raise.

Step 4: Give me that!
You have cornered the tanuki and you need to convince it to give back the cabbage. Characters make a Intimidation Willpower or Animal Handling (Tanuki) TN 15 or Courtier (Manipulation) TN 20. Spell Nature's Touch Lower the Courtier or the Animal Handling by 5. Characters with the disadvantage Cursed by Chikushudo have -5 to TN Intimidation Willpower instead of the given penalty meaning TN to Intimidation would be 10.

Prizes:

+0.1 glory for each tanuki captured and 1 koku per participant.

Inori saw the commotion, and while it was most unbecoming...she did feel a certain compulsion. A thrill of the hunt, if you so will. Moving more swiftly than was entirely dignified in her Kimono she hurried after the fleeing critters, chasing them down a nearby alley but...somehow...she lost track of them.

Frowning, she backtracked a bit and tried to look for traces. She had the impression there was something there. Something. Unfortunately, a few minutes later, she stood in front of a wall, dumbfounded.

With a defeated sigh she headed back to the inn, only then realizing what she'd attempted, and hoping she hadn't gotten her Kimono dirty.

I knew that Fortune-forsaken overgrown rat was trouble!

Choudai's various fixations came to the fore, but one thing was certain- he was going to do his best to track the wretched little beasts down.

Finding the trail? Easy.

Getting people out of his way? Child's play.

Chasing the nasty little creature down? Simplicity itself

And now that he had it cornered, the little beast holding the cabbage and chittering, Bayushi Choudai let some of the many, many frustrations in his life seep out as he stalked closer to it.

"You have two choices, you overgrown fleabag. You can hand over the cabbage, or I can see if there's some recipe in Obachan's scrolls somewhere dealing with turning tanuki into dog food."

Its eyes wide, the little creature gave an alarmed chitter and dropped the cabbage before scuttling away.

Did I seriously just threaten a fucking tanuki like it could understand me? Just I seriously just run all over town for the sake of one fucking cabbage?

Choudai scooped up the vegetable and trooped back to the vendor.

I have definitely been in Teitaku too long.

Tenten seemed to be on about something this afternoon, and it brought Asahina Asano out to the city; Apparently some tricky animals had stolen some produce, and things were chaos in the market. It was simple enough finding out what had happened; After all, it wasn't every day a group of raccoons raided the market and stole an entire cart's worth of cabbages! Tenten was better behaved than that, but she'd apparently heard rumors of the raid from other birds.

As Tenten led the way, Asano brushed through the streets; Even if she was meek and a pacifist and pretty... something about an almost 1.8 meter tall samurai striding along confidently, following a flock of chittering birds had a way of spooking even the most jaded peasant... Especially after her being a busybody the other day and causing so much chaos around town. She ran through the streets, not a particularly fast runner, but her long stride was adequate for the task.

It took a bit to follow her bird friends, to where some of the tanuki were hiding but Asano found one under a bush near the edge of town. Making sure the little raccoon could understand her, Asano got down on all fours and held a hand out to the raccoon, "It's okay little one. The humans just want their cabbage back. I know you want it too, but the humans will get mad if you eat theirs. How about you give me that back, then I treat you to something tastier than cabbage, okay?"

Soon a certain Asahina came back with a cabbage... along with a group of tanuki perched on her, hanging from her robes and sleeves and perching on her shoulders and heads, the little one having told her friends. Giving the cabbage back, she bought some stew from a nearby stall and marched out with a whole pot of the stuff, "Come little ones! Let's go have a picnic down by that brook you showed me! Some fresh water would go wonderfully with this, no?"

The tanuki chittered excitedly as Asano carried them out of the town.

Shizenko was looking for Raakun when she heard the ruckus. The woman sighed. It is good that this might be the last night in Teitaku and he has been tame all this time. It was an easy trail to find as some of the leaves of the cabbages. The Kitsune asked the politely to move out of her way. She almost lost the little creature but eventually she caught up. She started to use her training to coherse the tanuki to give the cabbage back.

Seeing the cabbage disaster unfold from a distance, Yoshino is alarmed when one of the tanuki runs right past her. She follows at a walk only to lose sight of it as it cleared a bend. It had been carrying a stolen cabbage. Maybe she should help?

She clears the bend and looks around. There was no sign of it. Luckily a passer-by helps out by pointing her down the street. Simple enough. She hastens down it only to bump into three burly labourers exiting a shop.

"Please excuse me, there's something I need to do."

The men were about to. They were peasants after all. Yet, there was a look of recognition from one... that was swiftly followed by blatant rudeness.

"Hey, Doji Yoshino-sama, ain't ya? Curse-chan! AHAHAHA!" The biggest one exclaims, bursting into a laugh. The others join in. Not helpful.

Quietly fuming, Yoshino goes around them and starts to jog. She reaches the next bend and pauses for breath. There was still laughter audible down the street. That Isawa was to blame.

There was no sign of the tanuki or the cabbage.
