Well, that was easy. Now. I need tea. In vast, vast quantities...

Yua had moved into the crowds (which moved slightly for the Imperial princess to pass through) after the ordeal. She had her fan out, and was gently fanning herself as she walked.

Hm, is that... yep.
An Imperial.
Well. Pretty enough, I suppose. Say one-third a Hatsuki in the looks department...
The Scorpion drifted closer.
And of course she let those heimin take her for a ride rather than admit she knew what anything actually cost. My, my.

From behind her fan she noticed the drifting of another. There was a small tilt of the head, before a polite bow and flicker of the fan to invite the Scorpion closer.

When an Imperial beckoned, you needed a damned good reason not to let yourself be beckoned, and Choudai had no reason whatsoever.
"Good morning, Otomo-sama, This one is Bayushi Choudai. Has Inari-no-Kami blessed you today?"

"Good morning Bayushi-san. Pleasant day ne? I am Otomo Yua, it is lovely to meet you" she gave him a soft smile "I have indeed been blessed, I hope you have also?"
There was a small motion ahead of her with her fan.
"What do you make of this display Bayushi-san?"

"The Fortune has been most forthcoming on this fine morning, Otomo-sama."
He followed her gesture and... shrugged.
"I found it curious to be doing the work of a quartermaster in this place, but as a bushi, I was not unaccustomed to it. There is something to be said for bearing in mind where our supplies come from, of course."

"So Bayushi-san is versed in Mercantile endeavours?" Yua asked, curious "I cannot say I have given thought to the origins of the supplies provided to the Imperial Families. Is the quality of the materials a concern among the Scorpion? I was unaware."

"In any army, the quality and quantity of materials are something that bears consideration however distasteful it may prove to be. So I have some small experience in matters mercantile, even if the materials in question are quite different from what we dealt with here today."
He gave a bland smile.
"Less glorious than skill at arms or physical fitness, but one must see that every soldier is fed, after all. And it would be a dereliction of my duty to be anything but careful with the resources my lord entrusts me with."

"Is that so..." Yua tapped her fan gently on her lip, looking thoughtful "I wasn't aware of this situation, thank you for educating me Bayushi-san. I hope the situation improves for your clan quickly, perhaps making better arrangements on the suppliers should be considered if the current ones force ones own army to have to barter for equipment replacements and simple nourishment. But anyway, less about such distasteful topics."
she waved the topic away with her fan.
"I'm sure your superiors have such plans already in place, and it is not for ones such as us to concern ourselves with. I suppose I may just be young and naïve to the greater problems in the world. This gathering is about more artistic endeavours. I assume Bayushi-san is here for that, rather than to barter with the Crane for his kin?"

Ah, the Otomo.
Nothing if not predictable.
"Indeed, Otomo-sama, I did not come to the Crane lands in my military capacity. I hope to honor some of my grandmother's artistic lessons before the judges here- will Otomo-sama be honoring us with a demonstration of her talents?"

"Ah, an artistic talent passed down through generations? How delightful! I'm looking forward to what Bayushi-san brings to the gathering. I cannot claim any such obvious artistic lineage but I am indeed here for that. I very much enjoy the arts and looking forward to seeing what everyone presents. I've already met one individual who creates her own very unique jewellery, so it seems it will not just be poetry and paintings."

"Indeed, Otomo-sama. I have met one who practices origami, one will be playing the flute, a Dragon tattoo artist, a dancer, and many more. Our Crane hosts have cast a wide net- this promises to be quite the colorful event."

After securing supplies for his craft and ensuring the event is running smoothly, Kaiu Kunio takes his place in the stands, letting the event run its course.

"A tattoo artist? Really?" Yuas fan opened with a small snap "one would question how a tattoo artist intends to display their art. With the Dragon, I wonder if they're going to be a personal canvas! That would be entertaining to watch, the judges trying to gauge the artistic display while simultaneously trying not to look."
There was a small laugh from behind the fan.
"I'm sure it won't be quite like that, but one can never be sure with the Dragon, ne? What art does Bayushi-san intend to display?"

Otomo Yua used "Trigger Something on Choudai's Character Sheet" It's super effective!
"Yes, Togashi-san already displays samples of his craft everywhere he goes, I will be curious to see the nature of his presentation..."
At her question, Choudai... warmed to his subject.
"This one will be practicing the culinary arts- sometimes food is just food, but prepared
properly, it can transcend that status. Where painting works on the visual senses, and music on hearing, my grandmother's art can work on multiple senses at once- a complexity that presents certain challenges, but also opportunities."

"Culinary arts? Truly?" Yua looked curious "how fascinating! I've never met someone who does cooking as an art form. A part of your family legacy you say too? You are an interesting one Bayushi-san, another I'll need to keep an eye on it seems" there was a grin "how long have you cooked for?"

"I began helping my grandmother in her kitchen when I was... three or four? You know how children are, I'm sure I hindered her at first more than anything. I would say I started to know what I was doing when I was six or seven. I cooked my first
terrible dishes on my own when I was eight. So I would say I have been cooking in the intended sense for about twelve years or so."
He chuckled.
"Naturally, I had to put serious culinary endeavors on hold during much of my training as a samurai, so those twelve years have not all been created equal."

"Ah, what a shame. Still, I can understand the importance of ones duty, and it's wonderful that you continued to keep the passion for the art even though you were pulled away from it. Perhaps in another life you would have been allowed to dedicate your life to the arts" Yua shook her head "but now you have a second chance ne? Maybe it was Fate preparing you for this, testing that it is truly your passion by taking you away from the arts then dangling the opportunity to shine at the creation of a new office of the arts to see if the fire still burns."
She tilted her head to look at the man.
"And does the passion still burn for it, Bayushi-san? More than just your families legacy?"
