Choudai was not mingling, as such.

No, as per his presentation, he was making short-order dishes for any and all who came by.

Early among those who do is, as might be expected, Kakita Akuba.

"Garlic gyoza, please, Bayushi-san," she requests.

And when it is ready, she eats of it. Slowly.

Her comment is singularly terse.

"Hm."

And a shallow nod is given before she passes on to the next competitor.

Shizenko was around.

Documentation continues at Yakuwari's hand, as it must.
The final day of the contest treated Sincerity, and it is perhaps unsurprising that the Crane would emphasize that virtue by giving it the closing position.

Bayushi Choudai was once again the first competitor to present--or, rather, he was the first to set up, his presentation being an ongoing cooking demonstration. His garlic gyoza were well received.

Asahina Asano presented an interesting calligraphic interpretation, one working with visual perspective.

Horiuchi Shuriyani presented an installation surrounding a faltering mirror. The perils of sincerity are highlighted thereby.

Kitsune Shizenko presented another origami installation, one detailing flowers bowing to the chrysanthemum, as is proper.
The Lion eats another gyoza from the plate next to him, chewing slowly.

The Matsu appproached, and entirely deadpan just said two words:

"Barley gruel"

Choudai bowed, turned to one of the heimin attendants, and made a gesture. The young man ran off in a hurry.

"Not a request whose ingredients I have right with me as of yet, but easy enough to secure."

A bit of idle chatter later, the servant returned, and he got to work, cooking the stuff down with consummate skill and zero hesitation.

"I hope it meets with your approval, Matsu-san."

Of course it did. If nothing else it was well executed, as Choudai's work usually was. He did not do anything fancy with it - Inori had halfway hoped he would - but that was not the point now, was it?

Still, she would hardly complain.

"Thank you, Bayushi-san. It is what I asked for, and well done at that" she said, taking another spoon.

A tanuki was in line to get into the action of the food. But the little Tanuki knows how to wait his turn.

Shizenko shook her head at the tanuki and covered her mouth to stop a chuckle.

"I can do no less."

Beneath his serious, on-duty demeanor, there was a the faintest hint of amusement.

Choudai looked down at the little creature.

Oh, what the hell.

"My apologies, Raakun-san, but I do not speak Tanuki. Perhaps you can secure a translator?"

Inori bowed to Choudai again, and withdrew a few steps to make room, but watched the small creature and the two others with interest.

I've only ever seen those two from afar, and they do make me curious.

Raakun looked at Shizenko and made a pouty face. The Kitsune smiled and moved to the display. "Good evening, mina sama." She bowed.

The food smells good.

"Indeed...what do you want?

Rice veggies and fish... no chicken... duck...

"Raakun is wants rice, veggies and...duck or chicken?"

Duck

"Duck"

Choudai motioned to a heimin, who ran off to find a duck.

He got to work on the rice and veggies right away.

"Prepared any particular way?"

It was utterly ridiculous, but the whole point of showing his Sincerity was tackling whatever came his way, as advertised.

Shizenko looked at Raakun.

Egg fried rice and the duck just a simple sear.

The Kitsune blinked a few time at the specifics.

"Okay... Egg fried rice and a simple sear on the duck."

Awfully picky for vermin.

He got to work.

The duck arrived posthaste, and soon the greasy waterfowl was enjoying the brief searing experience.

It honestly smelled pretty good to Choudai, and he made a mental note to use the duck if no one else did.

"Egg-fried rice with seared duck, Raakun-san."

He turned a bland expression on Shizenko.

"And for Kitsune-san?"

Raakun picked the bowl with his two front paws. Shizsnko was surprized to be asked. She shook her head lightly trying to compose herself. "Oh...well... vegetable lettuce wraps with a bit of tofu." The woman bowed. "Please Thank you."

"Simply done."

Choudai had a bit of tofu on hand from an earlier request, and repurposed it expertly.

"I hope it meets with your satisfaction, Kitsune-san."

Quietly Nadeshiko waits for her turn with the cook. She delicately carries a paper lantern with her, careful not to bump it into anyone or anything that might upset the candle within. Choudai gets a small smile as he works.

The Kitsune bowed. "Thank you." She smiled and took a bite. It was quite delicious.

It needs a bit more soy sauce.

"Come on Raakun... he at least cooked for you."

He bowed to the Fox- and then to the Crane.

"Nadeshiko-san, I hope the day finds you well. What can I do for you?"
