As the various competitors entered the gallery to put up and discuss their works, a new face to many made an appearance. A tall woman wearing the colors of the Crane, with the Kakita Academy mon proudly displayed over her heart made her way into the space with a large case for transporting painting with a confident step.

Honesty deserves attention.
Yakuwari has circles under his eyes, but he attends closely, nonetheless.

Outside of the gallery there was some commotion as the night sky grew suddenly bright again. A red-haired man in Phoenix colors descended from the sky on Wings of Fire. He executed a three-point hero landing, well clear of the gobsmacked onlookers.
"Right then, time to get to work. First things first, let's find cursed-chan and my lovely assistant." he said to himself, striding into the gallery with bold steps.

Shizenko was tired and Raakun was hungry. Trail rations are not good enough for the hungry tanuki. So she left her display and tried to see if Choudai was around.

Yoshino, more at ease after securing a promise of assistance from the Doji and having had a peaceful night, was wandering the gallery and enjoying the afterwork of the other competitors. The commotion outside was idly noted, but she didn't think it had anything to do with her. Why would she?
Nobody told her a powerful Isawa was due to fly in to Teitaku temporary airport.

It was an illusion like morning dew, fated not to last more than a short time.
"Aha! There you are!" he exclaimed, his voice carrying EASILY across the gallery.
A red and orange blur streaked towards her like fireworks in the night sky.
The Isawa got waaaaaay closer to Yoshino than was proper.
"You're her right? Of course you are! I mean, just look at that face! Look at how close the eyes are! Look at the slope of the brow!" exclaimed the very excited Isawa as if Yoshino was the latest cool toy the Isawa got for being a very good boy this christmas.

The Doji gradually lowered her hands down from in front of her face. She had them at her side one moment and then there was a comet streaking toward her the next. It had been involuntary.
Who was the madman right up in her business, not bowing or making introductions? Had she been eaten the night before or otherwise not woken up?
Yoshino looked the splitting image of a deer in headlights for a moment. Then her cheeks turned pink in indignation at the impertinent comments. "My eyes are none of your business. I'm Doji Yoshino. I don't believe we have met before." She didn't use the word pleasure as, so far, she was having none.

Having waited to see if he had succeeded or failed, Choudai's player was able to settle on his mood, and the Scorpion was present.
He spotted Mikan with a bland smile, but made no move to approach her. That situation was only going to get more catastrophic, after all.
So he welcomed the appearance of the weird Fox who presumably was anxious to wrap up the competition and get back to sleeping under logs or whatever it was the Fox Clan did.

The madman laughed.
"Oh of course, we haven't. No no no. You're far too special to have escaped my notice had we met before, and I'm far too talented for you to have forgotten." he boasted.
"Isawa Kojiro, researcher at the Fukanou Insitute, special guest of Doji Utemaro and......" he bowed where she did not. "Your personal savior. Feel free to show your gratitude."
It may have been slowly dawning on Yoshino that Utemaro's reluctance to call upon this ally may not, in fact, have solely been based on not wanting to help her.

Now he would get a low bow as her manners caught up with her as Kojiro asserted that he knew some. "Isawa-sama. I was unaware, so I am grateful." She would not look a gift horse in the mouth.
Well, she would seriously question it later in the evening as Kojiro's eccentricities became better known to her. However, that was later.
"Doji Utemaro-sama mentioned calling an ally to assist. I did not expect one so... acclaimed as yourself. Nor for someone to arrive so soon." She was only guessing he was acclaimed as he was acting like a real big shot.
Yoshino was most certainly picking up on that now, yes. She would owe Utemaro a sincere apology.

Kojiro waved away the concerns.
"Ah no no no. I was only a short flight away. I had petitioned to attend the competition after all. My divination made it abundantly clear that disaster was imminent! But he went on and on about how while I was valued as an ally and esteemed but there were political factors to consider, the comfort and the safety of the guests versus an only potential danger. I swear, how many ways have the Crane invented to say no?" he rambled.

The Doji's mouth moved a good three times to open and say something, but each time she thought better of it. Instead she dipped her head as if respecting his wisdom.
"As you say Isawa-sama."

She knew well that Choudai probably would like to be speaking to his other friend so she was brief. "Bayushi sama, I am sorry to bother you but... would you let Raakun have the little meat left in the fish bones?" She bowed. "I don't want him getting into the trash."

She notices that, and visibly relaxes herself, smiling before giving the Scorpion a small bow. "Good evening, Choudai-san. Do you find yourself well?"
There's a slight pointedness to how she says it; Nadeshiko doesn't know exactly what's going on, but she has a good guess.
