Built atop a low hill that separates it from the town, the manor house is both the home of Doji Utemaro and his chief servants and the administrative center of the area. Most of it is not open to the public, even now, although the front few rooms are, so that the business of the town--which must go on even amid such events as the contest--can be conducted.
