Goddamn Ferengi!
LOL!

Look brother, Tatsuya's just a really motivated revenue specialist, ok? Yasuki training plus high Intelligence is just... Ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

And I am totally going to run a future character who's writing a book on the Virtues of Acquisition...

"I could sign it with my chop... once you buy it." She nods to the shopkeeper.
Mention of money immediately brings the Mantis to full awareness and he grins.

"Indeed. How fortuitous."

The tall Mantis turns to the book seller and converses quietly but quickly, with the Crane samurai-ko overhearing bits of the conversation like "more copies," "wholesale or bulk rate" and "premium pricing." It all seems rather confused until she sees Tatsuya take one koku out of his sleeve and hold it where the other man can see it, his eyes widening and then his head nodding vigorously.

"Excellent!" The Moshi pronounces loud and clear. He tosses the heavy coin to the other man and turns back to Nadeshiko with a wide smile.

"This copy is a... gift... But perhaps you could sign it anyway? And... Maybe a few more? For, um, other friends?" Tatsuya's smile seems strangely genuine as well as unsettling.
Goddamn Ferengi!

Fukurokujin was plainly not looking after him.
I'm wounded!
Can you honestly look at Choudai and say the Fortune of Wisdom has his back on ANY level?

An aura of dissatisfied malice pervades the air as Bayushi Ameiko approaches from the roadside. It is a palpable, rumbling thing. She is, of course, smiling radiantly, absolutely beaming, in fact. Her soft features look positively pleased with the blessed day Lady Sun has granted.

She wears her kimono, her traveling cloak, carries a bag with her, her blades and in one hand holds a parasol over her head, in the other she holds..

A hat.

"Good afternoon, Lord Gaitsu", she said with the utmost cheer and offered a bow as per usual. She noted the others. The burly man, the little wretch of a Matsu. "It is good to see you all this afternoon, I hope I have not interrupted any proper accords between samurai, but I found my lord Gaitsu's hat and felt he should have it with him if he is to project his proper On."

She held the hat out toward the Otomo.
I kind of think that's her usual vibe

Bad form to cite yourself, but really, it's Nadeshiko who makes this work-

"I have seen it wrapped in the flatbread and eaten whole, a bit like a dumpling made on the spot. Alternately, it's a bit like the kebabs we make with chicken in the Scorpion provinces- you just pick up a skewer and nibble it off."
Oh, if only Sriyani were here! Then she could have reassurance! Well, Nadeshiko's braver than she looks, and she's no child. She moves back to the buffet and hovers a good, long moment before finally using chopsticks to pick up a single slice of beef and place it delicately on a piece of flatbread. Awkwardly she wraps it together before plating it. The first step done, she steps back to stare at the thing. The flatbread, at least, could dull the meat's texture or taste, should it be offensive -- the last hurdle is the thought of eating an ox, of all things. It... does not seem an appetizing animal.

Well.

The Doji sweeps away such thoughts from her mind and settles in the void left behind as she has so many times before and will so many times again. Don't think, just do.

And with that she picks it up and takes a bite.

"It's chewy," Is her first reaction... out loud. Her cheeks flush.
Escándalo!

"Hmm?" she thought about that. "Shiken-sensei usually doesn't press too hard, he allows the fear of a future where you have failed your lord to be proper motivation. Suke-sensei was...well, far too lax, but considering the nature of the 100 stances he was keen in giving us freedom to explore the techniques at our own pace. No one who was there lacked motivation of self...well, except for the dumb-dumb, but I was assured by Suke-sensei that it was my perspective alone."

OK, I'll start. I'm just amused at the oldtimer Easter egg of Otomo Taro.

Hyoukasha sighed.

"Were they reversed here, the result would be intangible and unforgettable." he agrees.
Akuba looks at the next display.

"It seems someone has been studying the works of Otomo Taro," is all she says of it.
